Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III Hands On

The Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III is officially unpacked on last night in Malaysia, One Utama Hotel Kuala Lumpur. We are lucky enough to be one of the among first who manage to hands on on the device before it officially on sales.

* Samsung Galaxy S III with touchWiz *

* Back cover is pretty finger print magnet *

* 8.6mm thickness. Not the thinnest phone but still sleek *

Our Dygadget representative, Jackie did a short video on it. Check it out. Do note that it is a hands on video and, yea he miss out alot important infosince it is his first time did such video, kinda nervous..

Anyway to recap Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III specification :

  • 4.8" 16M-color Super HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
  • Android OS v4.0.4 with TouchWiz.
  • 1.4 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos 4 Quad chipset, 1GB of RAM.
  • 8 MP wide-angle lens autofocus camera with LED flash, face, smile and blink detection, 2MP secondary video-call camera.
  • 1080p HD video recording at 30fps.
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n.
  • GPS with A-GPS connectivity; GLONASS support, Digital compass.
  • 16/32/64GB internal storage, microSD slot expansion.
  • microUSB port with USB host and TV-out (1080p) support, MHL, charging
  • Stereo Bluetooth v4.0, FM radio with RDS.
  • Super slim at only 8.6mm.
  • NFC support
  • Impressively large 2100 mAh battery

There is no internet around and sadly we couldn't conduct test such as S Voice and web browsing. But what really impressed us are the camera. Being 8mp shooter, we gotta admit it has rich color and sharp image compare to its predecessor, Sansung Galaxy S II.

*Click the image to enlarge *

Whats more? Zero shutter lag that make you spam like nobody business, 3.3fps when in burst rate. Same goes to front facing camera, it has zero shutter lag and that tiny 1.9mp sensor has ability to record 720p video. *Check out our hands on video for the video sample*

* Click the image to enlarge *

The Pop Up Play is good for people who always love to watch video. Just a tab to minimize it to a floating screen and you're free to open others apps. We do notice that the TouchWiz is pretty smooth compare to other Samsung model. Thumb up to Samsung for finally tweak and enhance their UI.

Nevertheless, Samsung galaxy S III indeed a great phone with highest specification ever u can find. We wish we could get a unit from Samsung to make a full review. Let's pray and stay tune on our site, kayz? ;)

* Mr Kwon, Managing Director for SME *

* This three telco will have Samsung Galaxy S III bundle plan! *

We would say it is very grand event. We doesn't feel alien, the stage, the crowd, the presentation, it is exactly like rewind back time and bring us back to the London UNPACKED event on last month. Thumb up to Samsung Malaysia Electronic for the good job. This is the feel every phone manufacture should have when unveiling their new flagship phone.

* Talking about the design inspiration *

Tizen OS hands on - Developer version

We talk about Tizen last year and today finally we get to see a hands on on a very early stage.

Well, the UI is similar to Samsung TouchWiz. Why we aren't surprise? Like iOS, the apps is directly installed to homescreen instead of a dedicated application drawer like Android.

You can check out more features in Tizen from the video below.

Of course, it is still early stage. Who know what would happen to the final release? Just stay tune with us ;)

HTC One X bootloader is still locked!

It was found out that the AT&T version of HTC One X is still lock dispite HTC's last year's announcement on unlocking the bootloader for all it's Android device. The international version was rooted few weeks ago but this is not the case for AT&T.

HTC commented:

"HTC is committed to listening to users and delivering customer satisfaction. Since announcing our commitment to unlockable bootloaders, HTC has worked to enable our customers to unlock the bootloader on more than 45 devices over the past six months. In some cases, however, restrictions prevent certain devices from participating in our bootloader unlocking program. Rest assured, HTC is committed to assisting developers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices and we'll continue to unlock additional devices in the future."

HTC, by default, sells their phones with locked bootloader, however, they they do offer the option for users to unlock the bootloader if they wish to. Hence, it was said that AT&T is the source of this restriction.

Does that mean that, if any other party forces HTC on the same matter, they (HTC) will do the same too(prevent the device from participating in bootloader unlocking program) in future? Or does that means only certain phone are in that program while other more high tech phone such as this HTC ONE X is not in the program?

That does sounds fishy. Hmmmmm
