Ricoh announces Pentax K-3 24MP DSLR

Ricoh has announced the Pentax K-3 - a 24 megapixel APS-C DSLR. The K-3 gains a 27-point autofocus system and a more advanced 86,000 pixel metering sensor, compared with the K-5 II. Rather than offering versions with an without an optical low-pass filter, the company has found a way to selectively use the image stabilization system to mimic its effect. It also offers twin SD card slots and USB 3.0 connection.

Pentax releases WG-3, WG-3 GPS and WG-10

In CP+ 2013, Pentax also not gonna missed it. Pentax just reveals 3 new waterproof cameras compact line - WG-3, WG-3 GPS and WG-10. Basically the WG-3 and WG-3 GPS are twins with one built in wifi and another one doesn't.

Priced at $349.95 (converted RM1050) the new WG-3 GPS is available in a choice of purple or green. The WG-3 is available in black or orange for a price of $299.95 (converted RM900). Both models will be available at retailers nationwide and online in March 2013. The WG-10 will be available in mid-April in red for $179.95 (converted RM540).

My Opinion : Spec pretty decent. Just like normal compact camera at least with addition of Crushproof, Waterproof, Shockproof, Dustproof and Freezeproof. I will go for WG-3 if I need one and no, I dont need the GPS.

Pentax announces the MX-1

I guess enthusiast compact camera will be happy on Pentax MX-1 because of it's classic styling and construction, with brass top- and base-plates. Don't get fool by it's appearance, it packed with pretty good spec.

Pentax Ricoh announces Pentax K-5 II DSLR and K-5 IIs

Pentax Ricoh has announced its latest flagship DSLRs - the K-5 II and K-5IIs. The "s" version will comes without an anti-aliasing filter, to offer higher resolution at the risk of more prominent moiré interference patter and it cost extra $100 (Approx RM300). Other than that, the spec are similar.

The new PENTAX K-5 II will be available at retail outlets nationwide and online in October 2012 with a suggested retail price of $1,199.95 (approx Rm3,600) for body only, $1,349.95 (approx Rm4,050) for the K-5 II kit including the DA 18-55mm WR zoom lens and $1,549.95 (approx Rm4,650) for the K-5 II kit including the DA 18-135mm WR zoom lens. The K-5 IIs will also be available at retail outlets nationwide and online in October with a suggested retail price of $1,299.95 (approx Rm3,900) for body only.

Pentax announces 3 new lenses : 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 ED SDM, HD 560mm F5.6 ED AW and HD Pentax D FA 645 Macro 90mm F2.8 ED AW SR

The company just added three new lenses on the chart.


The 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 offers a 15x superzoom covering a 27.5-414mm equivalent range and is based around the company's SDM 'supersonic AF' motor. It will cost around $800 (approx RM2400).


The 560mm F5.6 becomes the first Pentax lens to be given its 'HD' coating which, the company says, denotes high performance. The 859mm equivalent super-telephoto lens is environmentally sealed, to match the performance of the company's higher-end DSLRs. It will cost around $7000 (approx RM21,000).


The HD Pentax D FA 645 Macro 90mm F2.8 ED AR SR, an image-stabilized 71mm-equivalent macro lens for its 645D medium-format DSLR. The lens offers maximum magnification of 0.5x, when focused at its 41cm (1.36") minimum focusing distance. It features the company's HD and nano-scale Aero Bright coatings to maximise light transmission while reducing internal reflection. It will cost around $4,499.95. (approx RM13,500).

Pentax Ricoh introduces Q10

Pentax just announce a brand new mirrorless camera, Q10 that can mount on K lens with an adapter.

  • 12.4 megapixels
  • 1/2.3" (6.17 x 4.55 mm) CMOS Sensor
  • ISO 100 - 6400
  • 3" fixed LCD screen
  • 25 focus point
  • 1920 x 1080 (30 fps) video


The Q10 will cost around $700 (approx RM2100) with the 02 Standard kit zoom, with the fast zoom costing around $300 (approx RM900) and the K-mount adapter roughly $250 (approx RM750).

Pentax announces X-5

Pentax just announces X-5, a DSLR-look-alike where it closely resemble the company's K-5 DSLR.

It is powered by AA batteries, giving around 500 shots per charge when used with NiMh rechargeable cells. The new Pentax X-5 will be available on September 2012 with the pricetag of $279.95 (Approx RM840).

Pentax announces Mirrorless Camera, K-01

Pentax has formally announced the K-01 K-mount mirrorless interchangable lens camera and a revised 40mm F2.8 pancake lens to match. Well, we don't quite like the boxy design but definitely it provide better grip.


Pentax K-01 Key Features :

  • 16.3 megapixels, APS-CMOS sensor.
  • ISO 100-12800 (25600 Extended).
  • Pentax KAF2 mount.
  • 3" Fixed TFT LCD monitor.
  • 1080p HD Video recording.
  • Lithium-Ion D-LI109 rechargeable battery & charger or optional AA with adapter, approximately 540 pictures.


What made this camera is awesome is the KAF2 mount. It means this little box can mount most of the existing company SLR lenses. Besides, the new smc PENTAX-DA 40mm F2.8 XS interchangeable lens is the world’s thinnest interchangeable lens with 9.2mm size.


The K-01 will be available in yellow, black and white in March 2012 for $749.95USD - approximately RM2250 (body only) and $899.95USD - approximately RM2700 (lens kit including new DA 40mm XS) in Marc Newson designed packaging and with the Marc Newson designed strap. The smc PENTAX-DA 40mm F2.8 XS unifocal interchangeable standard lens will ship at the same time for $249.95 USD (approximately RM750).
