Fujifilm announce X-T1, offers weather-resistant body and improved EVF

The SLR-alike Fujifilm X-T1 is here! We believe the design was heavily inspired by Sony A7/7R and the very successful awards winning camera, Olympus OM-D. It's a weather-resistant, SLR-styled mirrorless camera bearing Fuji's 16MP X-Trans CMOS II sensor, borrowed from its X-E2 sibling. Its built-in 2.36M dot EVF is similar to that of the XE-2, though it boasts a higher 0.77x equivalent magnification and claimed lag time of 0.005 seconds. Also included is built-in Wi-Fi, now with remote capture, and a tilting 3.0-inch LCD.

Fujiflm X-T1 Key Specification :

  • 16 megapixels
  • APS-C (23.6 x 15.6 mm) X-Trans II CMOS sensor
  • EXR Processor II Imaging Processor
  • 3″ tilting screen with 1,040,000 screen dots
  • 1920 x 1080 (30, 60p), 1280 x 720 (30p, 60p) video recording
  • NP-W126 battery

  • 440 g
  • Price : $1299.95 / £1049.99 / €1199 (body only)

Fujifilm unveils XF 56mm F1.2 R portrait lens for X system

Fujifilm has announced the XF 56mm F1.2 R, a fast short telephoto 'portrait' lens for its X system mirrorless cameras. With an angle of view equivalent to an 85mm lens on full frame, it uses an internal focus design for fast, silent autofocus.

The lens has an aperture ring which Fujifilm says has been engineered to give positive click stops, something that hasn't really been the case with previous XF lenses. Like the older XF primes (but unlike the more recent wide angle primes), the focus ring is of the continuously-rotating type with no distance or depth of field scales - although Fujifilm claims it should have improved 'feel'.

The XF 56mm F1.2 R will be available in February, with a suggested retail price of $999.99 / £999.99.

Fujifilm has announced the X-E2 - its latest mid-range mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. The X-E2 gains many of the upgrades seen in the X100S, including on-sensor-phase-detection that underpins the company's unique digital-split-image focus aid. Beyond this the 16MP X-Trans camera has received a series of hardware adjustments and revisions in response to feedback about the X-E1.

In the same time, Fujifilm's new XQ1 enthusiast compact takes the fast lens and slim design from last year's XF1 and adds a 12 megapixel 2/3" X-Trans II CMOS sensor with hybrid autofocus. The XQ1 features a 25-100mm (equivalent) F1.8-4.9 lens with optical image stabilization, with AF times as quick as 0.06 seconds, according to Fuji. Fujifilm unveils X-A1: an entry-level mirrorless with a conventional sensor

Fujifilm has announced the X-A1, the entry level mirrorless in their X-mount family. Despite its lowly position in the lineup, the X-A1 retains the 920k-dot tilting rear screen and Wi-Fi offered by the X-M1. Sadly it wasn't come with the X-Trans Sensor.

Fujifilm X-A1 Key Specification :

16 megapixels
APS-C (23.6 x 15.6 mm) CMOS Sensor
EXR Processor II
ISO 200 - 6400
49 Number of focus points
3" Tilting LCD screen with 920,000 dots
1920 x 1080 30p video recording
Built-in WiFi
NP-W126 battery
117 x 67 x 39 mm

Fujifilm announces X-M1

It is time for Fujifilm X-M1 to join the mirrorless competition together with X-E1 and X-Pro 1. Fujifilm X-M1 is the company entry level mirrorless that packed with all spec same with it's sibling.

Fujifilm X-M1 Key Specification :

  • 16.3 megapixel
  • X-Trans APS-C CMOS sensor
  • ISO 200 - 6400
  • 3.0 inch tiltable screen
  • 49 point AF
  • 5.6fps burst
  • 1920×1080 30p, 1280×720 30p video recording
  • built in wi-fi

The Fujifilm X-M1 will hit the store by July with price tag of $699.95 for body only.

In the same time, Fujifilm announce new kit zoom, the XC 16-50mm F3.6-5.6 OIS that offers a 24-75mm equivalent range and optical stabilisation, but has no aperture ring. The kit lens will come together with X-M1 with price tag $799.95.

Fujifilm also has introduced the XF 27mm F2.8, a compact 'pancake' lens. It's just 23mm thick and weighs only 78g, making it by far the smallest X-mount lens. unfortunately there is no aperture ring, so X-Pro1 and X-E1 owners will need to update their firmware to allow aperture setting from the camera's rear control dial. It'll be available in black and silver, at an MSRP of $449.95.

My Opinion : Great! I been hearing how great is X-Trans sensor rival against full frame sensor. The entry level Fujifilm X-M1 is priced at affordable range, ready to compete with all mirrorless on current market. If I wasn't fond on my Olympus camera, I wouldn't mind grab 1 for myself anytime. In fact, I am tempted to invest on Fujifilm system too in near future.
