Nikon launches D610 full-frame DSLR with updated shutter mechanism

Within a year, Nikon D610 is here to replace the D600. The D610 appears to be a very minor refresh, with a quiet continuous shooting mode, improved white balance and faster continuous shooting touted as its major changes. Beyond this, the D610 is essentially the same camera as the D600 and, given its launch at the same $2000 SRP, it's extremely likely that the D610 replaces the older camera.

Ricoh announces Pentax K-3 24MP DSLR

Ricoh has announced the Pentax K-3 - a 24 megapixel APS-C DSLR. The K-3 gains a 27-point autofocus system and a more advanced 86,000 pixel metering sensor, compared with the K-5 II. Rather than offering versions with an without an optical low-pass filter, the company has found a way to selectively use the image stabilization system to mimic its effect. It also offers twin SD card slots and USB 3.0 connection.

Oppo N1 announced with 5.9-inch screen, rotating camera and optional CyanogenMod

In Beijing, Oppo announced its new high-end Android phone, the N1. It is world first smartphone with a rotatable camera, for high-quality selfies. And it's also the first phone to officially support CyanogenMod, after the project went commercial last week.

The back of the Oppo N1 is especially interesting. Firstly, there sits the 13MP camera with CMOS sensor and f/2.0 aperture and Oppo's specially-designed in partnership with Fujitsu IPS imaging chip. Oppo dubs the N1 as the first Android smartphone to feature 6 piece lens design. The whole camera module rotates 206 degrees allowing it to act as a front-facing camera as well. According to Oppo, the swivel mechanism of the N1's camera has been put through 100,000 times of rotating in a durability test. This means the Oppo N1's camera can be swivelled 40 times a day for 7 years and it'll be as good as new.

Below the camera, there is a touch sensitivity where feature the O-Touch and depending on the gesture that you make, the phone is can either play next song, browse the web or do a custom action. For example you can long touch the back of the phone while the camera app is on and it'll take a shot with the front facing camera. The supported gestures are long press, sliding and double tapping.

Oppo has also made a special bluetooth camera accessory dubbed O-Click. It is essentially a remote control for the camera and can operate within 50 meters away from the phone - perfect for self group shots. It's also included in the retail box of the Oppo N1.

Lastly, at the event Oppo announced their rumored partnership with Cyanogen. While no further details were given, the Oppo N1 is going to be able to run pure Android thanks to CyanogenMod. It's speculated that customers will be able to choose between Color OS and CyanogenMod upon ordering the N1 from the Oppo website.

The Oppo N1 will be priced at $571 (3498 CNY). China Mobile customers can already pre-order the Oppo N1 and expect it to arrive some time October. Oppo is yet to announce exact dates for worldwide availability.

Nikon 1 AW1 is world's first rugged, waterproof digital mirrorless

Nikon has announced the 1 AW1, the world's first rugged, waterproof mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. It has also made AW versions of its 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 and 10mm f/2.8 lenses that are both shock and waterproof.

The Nikon 1 AW1 will cost around $800 with 11-27.5mm lens and $1,000 with the 10mm f/2.8 added to make a two-lens kit.

Fujifilm unveils X-A1: an entry-level mirrorless with a conventional sensor

Fujifilm has announced the X-A1, the entry level mirrorless in their X-mount family. Despite its lowly position in the lineup, the X-A1 retains the 920k-dot tilting rear screen and Wi-Fi offered by the X-M1. Sadly it wasn't come with the X-Trans Sensor.

Asus announces new PadFone Infinity 2, Snapdragon 800 inside

Asus has announces new version of the Padfone Infinity flagship. The new Padfone Infinity 2 come with latest processor and also microSD slot. The camera also got slightly upgrade. It's still a 13MP one, but is now capable of 3MP high-quality photos made of a bigger 13MP picture by combining 3 pixels into one and known as PixelMaster. There is also 35fps burst mode, but the resolution is only 3MP.
